Quick definitions for every TMA-specific term.

  • AED Trainer β€” The Display Monitor panel that simulates AED operation (Standby β†’ Attach Pads β†’ Analyze β†’ Shock). Enabled via Display Controls on the Controller.
  • Apply New Vitals β€” The Controller button that pushes staged numeric values from the New column to the Display Monitor. Nothing numeric changes on the Display until this is clicked.
  • AUTO (BP) β€” The auto-cycle mode for NIBP. Cycles through OFF, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min. When active, automatically takes a BP reading at the chosen interval.
  • Battery β€” The simulated monitor battery. Drain mode depletes at 1%/min; Charge mode adds 5%/min. At 0%, the Display Monitor shows DEVICE OFF.
  • Controller (screen) β€” The instructor remote at /controller. Where you change vitals, rhythms, alarms, and all session settings.
  • Controller (permission) β€” A user who can access both the Controller screen and the Display Monitor, and can manage other users.
  • Crisis Alarm β€” Red alarm. Fires when a vital is out of range for 5 or more seconds. Outlines the affected vital in red on the Display Monitor.
  • Current column β€” The "what is currently displayed" column in the Vital Values table. Reflects the last Applied value.
  • DEVICE OFF β€” The state of the Display Monitor when battery reaches 0%. The screen goes dark until the battery is charged above 0% via the Battery tab.
  • Display Controls β€” A modal on the Controller with toggles for: Display Monitor on/off, AED Trainer on/off, Rhythm Identification on/off, NIBP Auto Cycle on/off.
  • Display Monitor (screen) β€” The student-facing patient monitor at /display. Shows ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, BP, Temp, Glucose, and more.
  • Ectopy β€” Extra beats overlaid on the underlying rhythm. Options: Monomorphic, Polymorphic, None.
  • End Trend β€” Stops an active trend immediately. Vitals stay at their current mid-trend value and do not revert.
  • Immediate Apply β€” The default Apply mode. Vitals change instantly when Apply is clicked.
  • INOP β€” "Inoperable." A simulated sensor disconnect. The affected vital shows dashes (---) and an INOP alarm fires.
  • MAP β€” Mean Arterial Pressure. Auto-calculated from Systolic and Diastolic BP.
  • Multi-Session Controller β€” The ability for one Controller to manage multiple simultaneous sessions from one device, switching via the session dropdown.
  • New column β€” The "what is staged" column in the Vital Values table. Reflects what the instructor has set but not yet Applied.
  • NIBP β€” Non-Invasive Blood Pressure. TMA's BP model: values are hidden until measured by pressing the NIBP button, mirroring how a real NIBP cuff works.
  • Original Owner β€” The user who created the session. Has permanent Controller access and cannot be demoted or removed by anyone.
  • Patient Population Preset β€” Pre-configured alarm thresholds for an age band. Options: Adult (β‰₯13), Pediatric Infant (1–12 months), Pediatric Child (1–7 years), Pediatric Adolescent (8–12 years), Neonatal (0–28 days), Custom.
  • Pleth β€” Plethysmograph. The SpO2 waveform displayed on the monitor.
  • Pleth Amplitude β€” Height of the pleth waveform (0–100%). Lower values simulate weak peripheral perfusion.
  • Pleth Morphology β€” Shape of the pleth waveform. Options: Normal, Bisferiens, Pulsus Alternans.
  • PTT (Pulse Transit Time) β€” Delay between the ECG R-wave and pulse arrival at the SpO2 sensor. Normal: 200–300ms. Longer = low perfusion/shock. Shorter = arterial stiffness.
  • QRS Beep β€” An audio heartbeat tone played after each QRS complex. Toggle in the Audio tab.
  • Rhythm Identification β€” The on-monitor label naming the current rhythm (e.g. "Sinus"). Toggle off in Display Controls to quiz students.
  • Session β€” The container for one simulation. Holds all vital values, rhythm, alarm settings, battery state, user list, and the Session ID. Server-authoritative.
  • Session ID β€” The short alphanumeric code identifying a session (e.g. K1KYW1). Case-insensitive. Never contains O or 0.
  • Shock Outcome β€” The rhythm the patient converts to when the AED Trainer delivers a shock. Set on the Controller; options include No Effect, Normal Sinus, Sinus Tachycardia, V-Tach, V-Fib, Asystole.
  • Silence (button) β€” On the Display Monitor, temporarily silences the currently sounding alarm. The next new alarm will still sound.
  • SpCO β€” Carboxyhemoglobin. Displayed when set above 0. Used for CO poisoning scenarios.
  • Trend Apply β€” An Apply mode that animates vitals from current to target over a chosen duration (3–300 seconds) rather than changing them instantly.
  • V/NV β€” Visible / Not Visible toggle per vital on the Controller. NV hides the vital from the Display Monitor entirely β€” the cell appears blank.
  • Viewer (permission) β€” A user with Display Monitor access only. The Control Vital Signs tab is hidden from their header. Read-only.
  • Vital Values Table β€” The two-column table on the Controller showing Displayed (current) and New (staged) values for every vital.
  • Warning Alarm β€” Yellow alarm. Fires when a vital is out of range for 10 or more seconds.
  • Welcome Back modal β€” Appears on return visits when a previous session is still active. Offers to Continue Previous Session or Start New Session.
